Holiday program generates sales for Berthoud businesses

BERTHOUD — Berthoud’s holiday program to encourage local shopping resulted in about $50,000 of revenue to Berthoud businesses.

The town-run program, according to a press statement, offered 45 $75 gift certificates to people who submitted receipts showing that they bought locally between Nov. 23 and Dec. 20.  

The receipts showed that residents spent $45,532 with 73 local businesses during that period. Because the gift certificates came from local merchants as well, the impact was about $50,000, said Walt Elish, Berthoud’s business development manager.

“Small events like this are just one of many reasons we love Berthoud,” Molly Nelson, an esthetician with OnPoint Esthetic Services, said in a written statement. “Being removed from downtown, we could not be more appreciative of the town and its willingness to involve us.”

Elish said the town will run a similar shop local program in May during National Small Business Week.
